What's this?

It's a quick overview of an idea I'm working on. A course platform comparison tool designed to allow quick comparison of key criteria, which can then be sorted and filtered in a way that works best for you. And so save a whole load of the time and overwhelm usually involved in choosing a course platform or LMS tool. 

The problem...

Setting up online courses on your own domain means you have to choose a platform or Learning Management System (LMS), obviously. On the plus side, there are lots of options to choose from with a wide range of costs, features and capabilities. On the negative side, as the decision can mean significant ongoing cost (or not), and it may be one you have to live with over time, it’s not one that should be taken lightly - if you want to avoid technical headaches, unnecessary cost, limitations and buyers remorse. And so making the right choice for you, inevitably means researching, trialing and testing, weighing up the pros & cons and then comparing criteria such as features, cost, usability and support - to name only a few. Which of course, can be an extremely resource heavy and time consuming process with inevitable opportunity cost.

And so where to begin?

Well, social media can help with some pointers and opinions as a starting point, a search on google will deliver many more considerations (albeit often light on detail) and also provide lots of opportunity to suck up time and overwhelm you. True, if you have narrowed down your options there are plenty of A/B comparisons between platforms and tools available, but what you won’t find quite so easily is a comprehensive place to begin and compare a wide range of options.

The solution...

An editable comparison tool containing all key info for each platform/tool, allowing you to more quickly compare and contrast and narrow down your research based on your own criteria and then sort and filter in a way that works best for you.
