E01. Welcome to symbiotic marketing (and a list with a twist)

Welcome To Symbiotic Marketing (And A List With A Twist)

**

This is the first email in the Bulletproof Funnel Framework Welcome Sequence, where the intention is to begin to build a relationship with our new subscriber, set up expectations of the list and ask them to take an action that will move things forward or prepare the ground for what’s to come in some way. But before getting down to business (and to the twist), I explain my take on Symbiotic Marketing…

**

Hello and welcome…

Thanks for joining me on this list with a twist.

Before we get down to business (and the twist), I have something to confess…

I hate marketing.

Well, sort of. Let me qualify that…

I hate marketing when there’s just one agenda: to sell you shit.

Yes, business is about selling, but it doesn’t have to be all about selling shit. Shit that’s a little bit scammy or a little bit spammy; shit that puts quantity before quality; and shit that can leave a right, royal stink once it hits the fan.

For me, sweeter smelling marketing is symbiotic marketing. If marketing can be helpful, educational and useful; and marketing can help build relationships and create partnerships between like-minded oddballs; then I don’t have to hate marketing, and neither do you. Win/Win, see?

Good marketing, useful marketing, symbiotic marketing for me, is where I get to help someone make a decision that serves their best interests as well as my own (the ‘as well as’ bit is an important bit). Now, you can’t make dosh doing that, unless…

You have good stuff to put in front of people. So it needs to be not shit (and that includes email content).

So…

In order for me to help you in the most effective way; in order for me to make some difference to you; and in order for me to get you to actually open and read my emails then firstly and foremostly…

I need to ensure my emails  – don’t stink, but are actually, quite helpful, useful, actionable and maybe even offer…

Some relief.

Secondly…

I need to approach these emails in a way that actually helps you take that action (and get things in motion). A way that attempts to address your needs. And a way that doesn’t insult your intelligence. That means, being realistic, straight and transparent with you (and not assuming you need your bum wiping for you).

And therefore…

Thirdly (here comes the twist bit)…

If you stick with me and look out for the **DVD Extras Director’s Commentaries**

…you’ll be able to travel through my funnel (hello!), with additional awareness and insight that can help you:

  • Observe what I’m doing and use this to better understand your consumer’s experience of their journey in your funnel.
  • Consider and envision where the strategies I’m using would, could, should fit into what you’re doing.

Which means you’ll be able to put more of the right stuff, in front of the right people at the right time and they’ll buy more (sweet smelling) stuff from you.

Sexy time, right?

Right.

So here for your delight is an aptly timed little “EXTRAS” example:

**

The core objectives in the first email of an ‘Onboarding Sequence’ (like this one) are:

1. Begin to build a relationship with you.

2. Set up expectations of what you’ll get from the list.

3. Ask you to take an action, that move things forward or prepares the ground.

And that. In a nutshell. Is a basic template you can use for your own Welcome Emails.

“You’re Welcome”.

In case you missed it, here’s the FREE Funnel Framework Blueprint, which gives a nice succinct overview of Level 1 and also includes a chart of the whole Framework, so you can see how the foundations fit into the big picture.

So, are you ready to buy some (not shit) stuff from me, yet?

Too soon?

It’s fine. No rush.

But while you mull things over, how about a deal?

I’d like to send you a maximum of three (not shit) emails over the next three days, simply to give you a feel of what The Bulletproof Framework is all about and help you gauge if it’s the right way (or the highway) for you.

All I’m asking is that you give these emails just one minute of your time per day to see if they peak your interest. If something floats your boat and you click on a link – to let me know you’re interested – then I’ll start sending you your Free Action Guides straightaway (well, the next day). Woo.

If you don’t (engage), then my part of the deal is to take the hint; stop bugging you like a lovesick teenager; and totally NOT add you to the Free Action Guide email sequence.

That’s it.

Deal?

Then…

Tomorrow we’ll begin with an introduction to Level 1 where I’ll explain why ensuring your Funnel is built on strong foundations can save you a whole lotta time, money and headspace in the long run and why turn-key options like ClickFunnels fall flat in helping you do that.

Until then, then…

Nick

When you click on any link in the intro sequence, you’ll be tagged as ‘engaged’, this puts a stop to these Welcome sequence emails and fastracks you to The Funnel Framework Intro Sequence. You’ll continue to receive up to 3 intro emails until you engage (or unsubscribe). Once you engage, this sequence stops and you move directly to the Action Guide Sequence.

I’ll show you exactly how I do this using Active Campaign in Level 2. Woo.

The point? To ensure a more quality over quantity list for higher open, engagement and conversion rates (and – lessons from life – reduce the shameful feelings of needy desperation you get, when you don’t take a hint).
